The Cape Leopard Legacy Expedition

A Private Conservation Journey Into the World of the Cape’s Elusive Mountain Leopard

A once-in-a-lifetime 6-star conservation experience offering privileged access to the science, dedication and extraordinary work involved in protecting the Cape leopard.

Hidden within the rugged mountains of the Western Cape, the Cape leopard survives in one of the world’s most unique environments — the ancient fynbos landscape. Through Cape Privé, guests are invited to become Cape Leopard Conservation Patrons, directly supporting a genuine leopard research operation and witnessing first-hand the work required to understand and protect this magnificent predator.

This is not a wildlife viewing experience. This is a private conservation journey where luxury meets purpose.

A Private Helicopter Expedition Into Leopard Country

Guests depart Cape Town by private helicopter, soaring over the dramatic landscapes of the Cape mountains, valleys and fynbos wilderness. The flight reveals the extraordinary environment where Cape leopards have survived for generations: remote mountain ranges, ancient fynbos ecosystems, protected wilderness areas, and vast landscapes rarely experienced by visitors. Guests arrive at the research location where they are welcomed by the leopard conservation team.

Meeting The Leopard Research Team

Guests spend private time with the researchers, conservation specialists and field team responsible for studying and protecting Cape leopards. The team shares their knowledge of how individual leopards are identified, how camera traps and monitoring systems are used, why scientific tracking is essential, how conservation decisions are made, and the challenges of protecting predators in fragmented landscapes.

Witnessing Conservation In Action

As part of this exclusive experience, guests are invited to observe a carefully managed leopard research operation conducted by qualified conservation professionals. When a leopard is safely immobilised as part of an approved research programme, guests may witness the veterinary and research team conducting health assessments, scientific data collection, the fitting of a research collar, monitoring procedures, and the careful preparation for release back into the wilderness.

Every step is conducted with the highest respect for the animal’s welfare and according to professional conservation protocols.

Your Contribution To Leopard Conservation

Included within the expedition is a USD 15,000 Cape Leopard Conservation Contribution, dedicated towards the complete research operation, including capture and release procedures, veterinary support, research equipment, tracking collar technology, field monitoring and scientific conservation work. Every guest participating in this expedition becomes a Cape Leopard Conservation Patron.
