A world-class 6-star expedition combining private access, botanical discovery, scientific insight and conservation impact.
Guests do not simply visit the Cape’s ancient fynbos landscapes — they are welcomed into a world of discovery, meeting the specialists who are unlocking the secrets of these extraordinary plants and helping protect their future.
A USD 5,000 conservation and research contribution is automatically included in the journey price, divided equally between two botanical specialists, supporting their ongoing work in medicinal and aromatic plant research and in tea, food and botanical innovation.
The Journey Begins
Guests depart from their Cape Town residence or luxury hotel by private chauffeur or helicopter, travelling into the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. From above or along the scenic route, guests witness the dramatic landscapes that have created one of the richest botanical ecosystems on Earth. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by two specialists who become their private hosts for the day.
Specialist One — Medicinal Plants, Aromatics & Natural Fragrance
A botanical scientist specialising in indigenous aromatic plants introduces guests to the extraordinary world of buchu, pelargoniums, indigenous aromatic fynbos species, essential oils, natural extracts and botanical fragrance applications. Guests discover how plants that have evolved over millions of years are now inspiring innovation in luxury fragrance, skincare, wellness products and natural ingredients.
Specialist Two — Tea, Food & Functional Botanicals
A specialist in edible and wellness botanicals introduces guests to the plants that have become internationally recognised for their flavour, heritage and potential: rooibos, honeybush, buchu, indigenous herbs and botanical ingredients — their traditional uses, modern applications, culinary potential, and the future of premium botanical beverages and foods.
The Living Laboratory
The fynbos landscape itself becomes the classroom. Guests learn how these extraordinary plants have adapted to ancient soils, seasonal rainfall, fire cycles, coastal conditions and unique ecosystems, discovering the delicate relationship between plants, insects, animals and the environment that allows this remarkable biodiversity to survive.
The Fynbos Botanical Picnic
Following the expedition, guests enjoy an exclusive picnic experience in a carefully selected location surrounded by the beauty of the Cape Floral Kingdom, with elegant linen, fine tableware, premium South African ceramics, exceptional Cape wines and Méthode Cap Classique. The private chef creates a menu inspired by rooibos, honeybush, indigenous herbs, seasonal Cape produce and local artisan products.
