Tom’s Safari House

The Hide Safari Camp — Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

An exclusive-basis house overlooking a Hwange waterhole on ancient elephant paths, with its own private guide, personal butler and private vehicle, named in honour of The Hide's founder Tom Preston.

Tom's Safari House is a strong fit for the Safari Privé Diamond class. Operated on an exclusive basis for the privacy of a single group, it comes with its own private guide, personal butler and dedicated vehicle, along with private dining, lounge and entertainment areas and a plunge pool. Its position above a well-frequented waterhole, on paths ancient elephant herds still use, delivers genuinely meaningful wildlife access in a reserve holding some 20,000 elephants and one of the largest surviving wild dog populations in the world. It sits just below Diamond Reserve because it operates within Hwange National Park in partnership with its sister camp, The Hide, sharing park access and guiding heritage rather than commanding an entirely private concession of its own.

About the Property

Named in honour of Tom Preston, founder of The Hide Safari Camp, and developed to mark The Hide's twentieth anniversary, Tom's Safari House offers superb views over a Hwange waterhole with ancient elephant paths close by. Private dining, lounge and entertainment areas surround a plunge pool built for a single group's exclusive use.

A private guide and personal butler, together with a dedicated vehicle, lead game viewing across a reserve home to over 100 mammal species and 400 bird species — some 20,000 elephants among them, alongside lion, buffalo, leopard, rhino, cheetah and spotted hyena, and one of the largest remaining populations of African wild dog anywhere in the world.
